Metropolitan Diary--Venice Edition
I was picking up my mail at the mailbox, when I heard a voice saying, "come-on honey."

I turned and saw a woman urging her Pekinese style dog, to walk past, the dog stood firmly, looking straight ahead.

I said, "Perhaps the dog is afraid of me-I'll move back."

The woman said again, "Come on" in a pleading voice. To me she said, "He does this sometimes, he just stops."

The dog turned around and looked at her. She said, "no I don't have any treats. Come on."

I headed for the house leaving them to their power-struggle. When I looked back the dog had won, she was carrying him under her arm.

Where is the "Dog Whisperer" when you need him?
